On May 24, 2010, we launched Daily Bread. The theme of our second remote project was creating art in the everyday, and 90 artists working in 44 cities across 19 states, 4 countries, and 4 continents signed on without knowing the assignment or what would be required of them.
After a week of suggested exercises to set the tone, the main assignment was released by email on May 29. Artists were asked to create and host a food event, inspired by the elements of Communion, Hospitality, Personal Eating Habits and Goals, Tradition / Memory, and Gratitude. They were free to collaborate with other artists or work alone, and the assignment itself was to be viewed as a set of guidelines rather than a dictate. The artists were encouraged to record their experiences in some capacity, and to submit a web-ready version of that record to No One Way by Monday, June 21, 2010. There were no restrictions.
This gallery is a showcase of their efforts.
